Cookie was found at Gomersal Park Hotel in Cleckheaton

A kitten which went missing in South Wales has been found 270 miles (430 km) away at a hotel in West Yorkshire.

Cookie disappeared from her home in Swansea on 29 December and her owners said they had "given up hope" of seeing her again.

But the microchipped feline had somehow made her way to Gomersal Park Hotel in Cleckheaton.

Andrew and Samantha Buchanan said they were "baffled" but it was worth the 10-hour round trip to be reunited.

"We're absolutely ecstatic, so pleased she's back with us, but we've got a long drive ahead of us to get her home," Mr Buchanan said.

The hotel's deputy general manager Stacey Webster said: "I came into work on Monday morning and I heard the most outrageous cry, and outside behind reception she was there, so I got her some milk and food.

"It was a bit of a shock that she's hitchhiked her way from Wales to Leeds."
