Sex attacker targets woman in Leeds city centre street

A woman has suffered a "serious sex assault" in the centre of Leeds.

The 24-year-old victim was attacked on Mark Lane off New Briggate shortly after 05:00 BST on Friday, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers said the attacker was African-Caribbean with a shaved head and aged between 30 and 40.

The woman managed to fight back against her attacker and fled the scene of what police have described as a "a very serious incident".

Det Insp Ian Scott said "clearly we need identify the man responsible and get him off the streets as quickly as possible".
