Louis Vuitton shop in Leeds suffers second ram-raid

The shop on Briggate was badly damaged

An upmarket handbag shop has been ram-raided for the second time in a month.

Up to eight masked man smashed into the Louis Vuitton store, on Briggate, in Leeds city centre on Wednesday night, police said.

A black Saab estate was reversed into the shop through the previously boarded-up frontage, West Yorkshire Police said.

Several men repeatedly reversed a Subaru car into the same shop before stealing items on display on 9 April.

There are no details of what was stolen but the store is currently closed.

In the latest attack, the Saab was left at the scene and seven or eight masked males, drove off in a white Volkswagen Golf and a white Ford Focus C-max, said the force.

These vehicles were stolen and bearing false number plates and were found abandoned in east Leeds. They are being forensically examined.

It is not yet clear if the raids are linked, police say.

Louis Vuitton sells luxury handbags, some of which can retail for more than £3,000.

The fashion house, which started making luggage in 1859, has about 15 stores in the UK.
