Body found in water at Stanley Ferry identified as missing man

A body recovered from a watercourse in West Yorkshire is that of missing man Liam Hinchliffe, police have confirmed.

The 30-year-old was reported missing on 30 December, and searches had been ongoing to find him, West Yorkshire Police said.

His body was recovered from Stanley Ferry, near Wakefield, at about 12:40 GMT on Tuesday, the force added.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained, pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination.

In a statement, his family said: "We would like to thank the police and everyone involved in the search for Liam.

"We would like to ask everyone to respect our privacy at this sad and most difficult time."
