Police have named a 29-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a street in Leeds on Thursday.
Peter Wass, 29, from Roundhay, died in hospital after he was found by passers-by in the Hamilton Avenue area of Chapeltown at about 14:40 GMT.
West Yorkshire Police said: "Peter's family are completely devastated at his death in such sudden and violent circumstances."
Officers are treating the death as murder and have appealed for witnesses.
Police said Mr Wass was stabbed in an incident near to the junction of Hamilton Place and Hamilton Avenue.
The force said investigations were taking place at the stabbing scene and at nearby Spencer Place and Rossington Drive.
Increased stop and search powers which were put in place for 24 hours in parts of Chapeltown following the incident have been scaled back, the force said.
However, senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Sam Freeman said: "We recognise that an incident of serious violence such at this will cause understandable concern in the local community and we are working to reassure people with increased operational activity to target those who carry knives."
He said Mr Wass's family had urged anyone who knew anything about the circumstances surrounding Peter's death to support the police investigation "so that they can get the answers they need".
