The westbound carriageway of the M62 in West Yorkshire has reopened after urgent repairs saw the road closed near Castleford for much of the day.
National Highways said a broken bridge joint forced the closure between junction 31 (Castleford) and junction 30 (Wakefield).
The agency said repairs to a damaged bridge joint were now complete.
However, an update on social media warned some delays remained on the approach to the area.

National Highways said specialist resources and contractors had been needed because of a deteriorated bridge joint
