Meanwood crash: Two teenagers dead after car hits telegraph pole in Leeds
- Published
Two teenagers have died after a car crashed into a telegraph pole in Leeds, police have said.
The man, 18, and woman, 19, were passengers in a white Audi A3 travelling on the A6120 near the Parkside Road junction at Meanwood.
The crash happened at about 03:25 BST on Friday, West Yorkshire Police said.
Another passenger, an 18-year-old man, was critically injured. A man, 22, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The road has been closed and officers from the major collision enquiry team are at the scene of the crash.
Police have asked anyone who was driving in the area or who lives nearby to check their dashcam or home CCTV cameras for footage that could help with their investigation.

The cordon was lifted just in time for rush hour. The wreckage has been cleared, but the path alongside the road is littered with broken glass, mangled road signs, and pieces of metal.
This was a major accident on one of the city's busiest roads.
The location of the crash is also right on the edge of Meanwood Park and Scotland Wood.
It's a sunny afternoon, and the trails here would normally be teeming with dog walkers and mountain bikers, but these were also cordoned off, to allow the police investigation to continue.
The huge telegraph pole is laid out, waiting to be collected. It looks to have split in half with the force of the impact.
Within minutes of the road reopening two young men arrive. One of them has been crying.
"How could this happen?" he said, with his hands on the back of his head. "I only saw them a couple of weeks ago."
