Inquiry ongoing after paving slab thrown at woman

A woman who was seen in a video to have a paving slab thrown at her head suffered minor injuries in the attack, police have said.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident in Dewsbury on Tuesday after the footage emerged on social media.

West Yorkshire Police said inquiries were ongoing and the victim was being supported by officers.

A spokesperson said: "We are working with colleagues in Kirklees Council's adult social care to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

"We would urge members of the public to avoid speculation about this incident and the people involved."
