Salam Alshara was found seriously injured in Dewsbury on Sunday and died later, police say

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his partner in Dewsbury.

Wahib Albaradan, 35, indicated he would deny the murder of Salam Alshara, 27, who died after being found hurt at a house in Dearnley Street on Sunday.

West Yorkshire Police said it was thought the couple had come to the UK in about 2020 and arrived in Dewsbury with their four children in 2021.

Mr Albaradan, of Dearnley Street, appeared before Leeds magistrates and is due at crown court on Thursday.

He was remanded into custody after his brief court appearance.

Det Insp Guy Shackleton, leading the investigation, said earlier: "We are conducting a number of inquiries to locate wider family.

"I would ask anyone who can assist those inquiries to contact the homicide and major enquiry team on 101."
