Leeds Bradford Airport flyers warned of delays while new scanners installed
- Published
Passengers expecting to fly from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) have been warned to arrive three hours early during work to install new security measures.
Once the new hand luggage scanners were in place, security checks would be carried out without people needing to unpack, an LBA spokesperson said.
Upgraded body scanners and electronic gates would also be fitted in a bid to reduce waiting times, they added.
Damian Ives, from LBA, said it would make flying "easier and more pleasant".
Mr Ives, LBA chief operating officer, apologised to passengers for the disruption and urged them to arrive three hours before their flight was scheduled to depart, but no earlier.
"We want to ensure every passenger travelling through LBA has an easy, stress-free start to their journey," he said.
"This investment is an essential part of streamlining our processes and making travelling through LBA an easier and more pleasant experience for everyone."
Work to install the scanners had already begun and the equipment was expected to be in use by February next year, a spokesperson said.
