Redevelopment plan for demolished Bradford factory site

A former factory could be redeveloped to create business units, drive-through restaurants and a petrol station.
The Rentokil building on Cemetery Road in Bradford closed in 2008 and was later demolished.
The site, opposite a secondary school, has since been earmarked for housing.
Now a planning application has been submitted to build eight industrial units, three food outlets and a garage with a shop and electric vehicle charging points.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, in 2013 plans for housing on the site and a neighbouring plot of land were approved by Bradford Council.
It would have seen 400 homes built on the land.
Although an estate of 167 homes is currently being built on the neighbouring site to the plot, the former Rentokil site has remained empty and fenced off.
The planning application claimed a lack of interest from developers and "market failure" meant the land had not proved attractive to housing developers.
The largest of the business units would be 54,000 sq ft (5,000 sq m), with the smallest being 5,400 sq ft (500 sq m) and there could be 150 parking spaces.
Its developer said it would "create a mixed-use employment zone that will be occupied by local operators and will generate an opportunity for investment and economic growth".
Access to the industrial units would be via Northside Road, with access to the drive-throughs and filling station from Cemetery Road.
The application adds that "Greggs, Costa Coffee, Krispy Kreme and Popeyes" had expressed an interest in the restaurant units, although no contracts had been signed.
A decision on the application is expected in February.
