A woman in her 40s has died after being hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Bradford.

The collision happened at around 21:00 GMT on Tuesday on Manchester Road, close to the junction with Ripley Street, according to police.

An Audi A3 and a VW Golf were being driven side-by-side away from the city centre when the woman was hit.

Two people had been arrested in connection with the crash, West Yorkshire Police said.

One of the cars collided with railings after the woman had been hit, a force spokesperson added.

Officers asked anyone who saw what happened, who saw either vehicle before the crash, or who had video footage from the scene, to get in touch.
