A mother has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her baby daughter after the five-month-old died following an incident in a Leeds park, police said.
Officers were contacted on Wednesday at 17:44 GMT by a woman reporting a baby in a serious condition in the city's Woodhouse Moor green space.
The child was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
West Yorkshire Police said a forensic investigation had been carried out and the woman remained in custody.
A force spokesperson said the report on Tuesday had centred on the park, near to the junction of Clarendon Road and Moorland Road.
They confirmed the arrested woman was the child's mother.
Det Ch Insp James Entwistle said: "The death of a child in these circumstances is clearly a very tragic incident and we are carrying out enquiries to get a complete picture of what has occurred.
"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the park around this time and who witnessed anything or who has any information that could assist the investigation."
