Keighley: Industrial units approved for former mill site
- Published
Two industrial units will be created on the site of a former mill in Keighley.
Devonshire Mills on West Lane was built in 1909 and demolished in 2005. The site has remained empty since.
Keighley-based building company Terra Firma had applied to build the two units creating 6,999 sq ft (640 sq m) of employment space.
Bradford Council approved the plans, despite four objections to the scheme who argued the site should be used for housing.
Three supporters of the plans stated the units would improve a site which had been empty for almost 20 years.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, planners said: "Employment use of the site is established and acceptable in principle and the proposal does not raise significant concerns regarding impact on visual or residential amenity, highway safety, drainage biodiversity or any other planning-related matter."
The approval is conditional on the units only being open between 07:00 and 20:00.
