Police have released pictures of two men they want to speak to after a fire at a house with a mother and baby inside

Two men are wanted in connection with an arson attack on a house in Leeds that had a mother and baby inside.

Police said two men approached the house on Scott Hall Road on 13 July, 2023, before one poured petrol in the letterbox and ignited it.

Images of the men, who are believed to have travelled to West Yorkshire from the Thames Valley area, via Birmingham, have now been released.

West Yorkshire Police said the incident "could have had tragic consequences".

'Baby-shaped outline'

The force said a family member returned home shortly after the blaze was started, but, even in that short time, the baby's room was affected.

Det Con Lindsey Crawford, of Leeds District CID, said: "There was a clear baby-shaped outline found in soot in the cot afterwards.

"We need to identify these pictured males as part of our ongoing enquiries."

The vehicle the men used was later recovered in the West Midlands.

Det Con Crawford added: "I would urge anyone with information about their identities, or indeed the males themselves, to come forward to assist our investigation."
