Plans for £2bn West Yorkshire tram system published

Plans have been unveiled for a tram system connecting Leeds and Bradford, which regional leaders say will "revolutionise" the transport network.
The West Yorkshire Combined Authority wants to build two lines initially, with the potential for a link to Dewsbury to follow.
If approved work on the £2bn scheme could begin in 2028.
West Yorkshire's Mayor, Tracy Brabin, said the project would be "transformational for the North".
The proposal is for the creation of a Leeds Line - running from St James's Hospital to the White Rose Shopping Centre - and a Bradford Line - linking Leeds and Bradford, with a stop at Bradford's planned new railway station.
The BBC understands the Bradford Line could serve communities such as Bramley, Pudsey and Laisterdyke, though the details of the exact stops have not been finalised yet.
The WYCA said it would also work also with Kirklees Council on how to include a Dewsbury Line in the future.
The bulk of the funding for the two lines is expected to come form central government.
Ms Brabin said the project was the biggest infrastructure project West Yorkshire had seen since the development of the motorways 60 years ago.
She said: "We know that mass transit systems have successfully helped to regenerate areas right across the country by boosting connectivity, opportunity and prosperity - and we will work tirelessly to make sure that happens here in West Yorkshire."
This is the first time that West Yorkshire has pursued a region-wide tram system, with previous failed attempts all focussed on Leeds.
A "strategic outline case" for the scheme will now be sent to the government for approval.
Backing the plan, Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe said: "West Yorkshire is currently the biggest region in the country without a mass transit system.
"These tram proposals are part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for comprehensive new transport links, which will undoubtedly enhance people's lives."
