A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was attacked with a broken bottle at a bus stop in Leeds.

Ibrahim Albashir, 32, of no fixed abode, is accused of an unprovoked assault on the woman in her 30s on Otley Road at 21:00 GMT on Sunday.

West Yorkshire Police said the victim suffered cuts to her head and neck.

Mr Albashir is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He was remanded in custody ahead of the hearing, police said.
