Drivers warned of A1(M) overnight closures for bridge repainting

Part of the A1(M) in West Yorkshire is to be closed overnight for several weeks while a bridge is repainted.
National Highways said steel beams on the Tenter Hill Bridge needed the work to prevent "deterioration".
It means the northbound carriageway between junctions 44 at Bramham and 45 at Boston Spa will be shut overnight from 21 March for up to three weeks.
The southbound carriageway between the same junctions will be shut each night from 10 April for up to three weeks.
'Protect key elements'
National Highways said fully signed diversions would be in place and drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.
A spokesperson said the existing paint on the bridge, which carries Thorner Road over the A1(M) near Wetherby, "needed to be replaced to protect key elements from deterioration".
At the same time, further maintenance would be carried out on the A1(M) in the area, they added.
While one side of the carriageway would be closed, the other would remain open.
The closures would be in place each night, Monday to Friday, and every other weekend, between 20:00 and 06:00.
The A1(M) would remain open during the day and no road closures would take place over the Easter weekend, according to National Highways.
