Slaithwaite attack: Man in 70s seriously injured in assault

Police say the attack on Thursday night was targeted

A suspect has been arrested after a man in his 70s was seriously injured in a suspected targeted attack.

Police were called to Canal Side in Slaithwaite on Thursday night to reports a man had been assaulted.

He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, West Yorkshire Police said.

A 59-year-old man was arrested nearby and remains in custody, the force said. Anyone with information is urged to get in touch, it added.
