Defibrillator dedicated to Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging

A Rutland village has dedicated a new defibrillator in a disused phone box to the Red Arrows pilot who died in a crash in August.

Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging, 33, who lived in the village of Morcott, died when his Red Arrows jet crashed near Bournemouth Airport.

The new defibrillator has a plaque inscribed with the words "never forgotten".

He and his wife Emma Egging had lived in the village for three years.

She said her husband had been fully in support of installing the emergency equipment in the village.

The equipment can be used by trained volunteers to help heart attack victims or other people who need assistance before paramedics arrive.

Mike Willis, retired Morcott parish clerk, said: "By dedicating this to Jon's name - it keeps him alive in this village."
