A man has been charged with firearms offences following a 10-hour siege at a flat in Leicester.

Armed police officers and negotiators were called to Keightley Road at about 07:00 GMT and suspect David Bourassa was arrested that afternoon.

The 40-year-old, from the same street, has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm.

He was also charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Mr Bourassa is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A 48-year-old woman was found unharmed in the flat, which is in the New Parks area.
