A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a pedestrian seriously injured in a hit and run crash.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was left with "potentially life-threatening injuries" following the crash in Leicester on Tuesday.

A black BMW X5 was seen being driven "dangerously and erratically" at the time.

The crash happened in Thurcroft Close at its junction with Hillsborough Road in Eyres Monsell, at about 11:45 GMT.

Det Ch Insp Rob Widdowson from Leicestershire Police, said: "The victim has been left with very serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

"We need to speak to anyone who saw what happened or who may have information about who is responsible."
