Driver rescued 'moments' before level crossing crash

A man was pulled from his crashed car "moments" before it was hit by a train on a level crossing.
Leicestershire Police said the crash happened on Station Lane, Kirby Bellars, between Melton Mowbray and Leicester, at 03:30 BST.
The 28-year-old driver was pulled clear after the Ford Fiesta crashed into barriers. He was then arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Officers said the crossing has been been badly damaged.
Station Lane is closed between Kirby Bellars and Asfordby and is likely to remain shut for several weeks, police said.
Network Rail said disruption on the line had ended by 09:00.
There are no reports of any injuries.
