Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found with fatal injuries in a car stopped by police.
The red Vauxhall Astra was pulled over by officers on Brighton Road, in Leicester, at about 03:00 BST on Monday.
Police said a man ran from the vehicle but was arrested nearby.
When the car was searched, Anand Parmar was found with multiple injuries, and died in hospital.
Leicestershire Police said a post-mortem examination found Mr Parmar - who was also known as Andy - died as a result of "significant injuries" to his head and chest.
The car was stopped after it was seen "being driven in an erratic manner", a force spokesman said.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, kidnap and theft of a motor vehicle.
Another man, 34, and a woman, 40, were later arrested on suspicion of murder.
Two other men, aged 44 and 34, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All five remain in custody.
Det Ch Insp Tony Yarwood, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: "First and foremost, my deepest condolences go out to Mr Parmar's family.
"While five people are currently in custody, our investigation is very much continuing and we owe it to his loved ones to find out who is responsible for his death."
"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a red Vauxhall Astra being driven in the area of Evington late on Sunday night into the early hours of yesterday morning."
