A section of the M1 in Leicestershire was closed after a lorry caught fire.

The northbound carriageway was shut between junctions 21 and 21A while crews dealt with the blaze but all lanes have since been reopened.

National Highways warned drivers there were still major delays around junction 21 and the nearby M69 as a result of the disruption.

A lane of the southbound carriageway was also closed but has reopened. There were no reports of any injuries.

Leicestershire Police said a gantry was also damaged by the fire and was being assessed.
