M1: Seven people found inside refrigerated lorry in Leicestershire

Seven people have been found inside a refrigerated lorry on the M1 after members of the public reported hearing banging from inside.

Leicestershire Police said officers responded to the report at about 21:25 GMT on Thursday.

The vehicle, which was moving slowly along the northbound carriageway, was stopped close to junction 24.

A post on social media, external by the force's roads policing unit said those found inside were "fit and well".

They were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.
