Four more men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing at a party.

Officers were called to a report of a person being stabbed at student accommodation on Putney Road in Leicester at 23:40 GMT on Thursday.

Police said a man in his 20s had a single stab wound and is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The men, aged 18, 19, 23 and 23, were arrested in the Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Middlesex area.

Leicestershire Police added the men remained in police custody.

Inquiries ongoing

Two men, both aged 22 and from Slough, who were arrested on suspicion of the same offence on Saturday, have been released on bail.

Det Insp Rob Arthur, from the force's complex investigation team, said: "Despite these arrests we are still keen to speak to anyone who may have any information about what happened that we have not spoken to.

"I would urge those people to contact with us."

He added inquiries were ongoing as the "investigation progresses".
