Firefighters spent the night tackling the blaze at Echos in Loughborough

Two men have been arrested after a fire inside a nightclub in Leicestershire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at Echos nightclub in Biggin Street, Loughborough, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The fire service said the blaze was on the ground floor of the nightclub, with police adding no-one was injured.

The men, 40 and 44, have been detained on suspicion of arson and burglary. The 44-year-old has also been held on suspicion of Class A drug possession.

They remain in custody while inquiries continue.

Leicestershire Police said officers were called after two men were spotted in the area acting suspiciously.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and have asked businesses to check CCTV to "see if they have captured anything that may be of use to the investigation".

BBC Radio Leicester said the ground floor was not open to customers on Monday night.
