Man in court after double stabbing in Leicester

A man has been remanded into custody charged with attempted murder after two people were stabbed in Leicester.
The attacks happened on Monday and saw a 61-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man injured in separate locations.
Mufaro Machaya has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.
Leicester Magistrates' Court heard the 24-year-old, of Tay Road, Lubbesthorpe, Leicestershire, is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on 23 January.
There was no application for bail on behalf of Mr Machaya.
The woman was attacked in Goodheart Way, Thorpe Astley, Leicester, at about 09:10 GMT on Monday, police said.
About 20 minutes later, the man was stabbed in Meadwell Road, Braunstone, about half a mile (0.8km) away.
Leicestershire Police said the woman remained in a serious but stable condition in hospital but the man had been discharged after treatment.
