A care service needs to make improvements to the way it looks after elderly and vulnerable people, inspectors have said.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has released the findings of its latest inspection of 2M Health & Home Care Services Ltd, based in Birstall, Leicestershire.

The firm, which provides domiciliary care, had previously been rated inadequate.

It has been contacted for comment.

A re-inspection in September found the service had improved but not enough, with some customers complaining carers were sometimes late and did not tell them they would not be on time.

The overall safety, effectiveness, and leadership of the service still need to improve, said the CQC.

'Restrictive practices'

The Local Democracy Reporting Service said remaining concerns included a lack of guidance as to how staff should support people when they became distressed.

There was also a lack of risk assessments for people on blood thinners, which meant staff had no guidance to follow if a person who was at risk of excessive bleeding was injured.

The inspection report, external also said medicine care plans were not always detailed and people's preferred method of taking their medicine was not always recorded.

There was also concern staff had been "performing restrictive practices without the authority or guidance to do so".

However, when the company was made aware, it took "immediate action" to ensure the safety of its users, the CQC said, and inspectors said there was no evidence to suggest people had been harmed.
