The friend of a 30-year-old man who died from a brain tumour is doing running, rowing, skiing and cycling 12 marathons in 12 days.

Josh Burniston from Groby, Leicestershire, is taking on the feat in memory of his friend, Andi Peel, who died on 11 January.

The 26-year-old will begin the challenge on 1 December.

He is aiming to raise £3,000 for Brain Tumour Research - to add to the £18,000 raised by Mr Peel's family.

Mr Burniston said: "What [Andi] went through was horrible, but knowing the mindset he had throughout his treatment and how hard he worked while remaining positive was so inspiring.

"I want to display the mental resilience he had, and show that if you put your mind to something, you can overcome it and get it done.

"The plan is to do 12 marathons in 12 days - so one marathon per day, alternating between a running marathon, a rowing marathon, a skiing marathon, and a cycling marathon.

"It will be tough, but what Andi went through was 10 times harder."

Andi's mum, Linda Peel, said: "Andi was the perfect son; he was kind, considerate, and he was really brave towards the end. I think Josh is amazing for doing this challenge in Andi's memory. I also think he's a bit mad for doing this, but I know Andi would be more than proud of him for doing this."
