Leicestershire Police said it was supporting the families of the man and woman

A man and a woman have been found dead in a Leicestershire village.

Detectives said they were called to a property in Smeeton Road, Saddington, at 11:27 GMT on Friday by paramedics after reports two people had died.

Leicestershire Police said an investigation was under way but nobody else was being sought in connection with the deaths.

The address remained cordoned off on Saturday morning as inquiries took place.

Det Insp David Greenhalgh, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime team, said: "Our investigation is very much ongoing as detectives are working to understand what happened and led to the deaths of these two people.

"I would like to reassure the wider public that at this time we do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident.

"Families of the two deceased are being supported by officers at this very difficult time."
