Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead on the M1.
Leicestershire Police said they were called at 05:10 GMT after a motorist travelling along the southbound carriageway at junction 22 reported a body in the road.
Officers, alongside East Midlands Ambulance Service, went to the scene and later confirmed a woman had died.
The road was closed between junction 22 at Markfield and 21A at Leicester but the motorway has since reopened.
Officers said the woman was believed to the same person who was on the wrong side of the bridge over the same carriageway in the early hours of Wednesday.
She came down from the bridge and was taken by officers to hospital for assessment, the force added.
Officers have urged anyone who may have seen the woman prior to her death to get in touch.
