Artist's impressions of Leicester city centre revamp released

Artist's impressions showing what an area of Leicester could look after undergoing redevelopment have been released.
Plans for the new site in Cank Street were approved by Leicester City Council in December.
Two buildings will be demolished to make way for the new hub, which would see shipping containers used as pop-up venues for independent businesses.
The council is now looking to speak to developers that could create the hub.
The project would see new paving connect Green Dragon Square with St Martin's Square, with container-style buildings flanking the route.
Plans show that artisan start-ups, higher-end retail offers and street food outlets could take up residency at the site.
Nick Sykes, manager at Super Game Shack in Silver Arcade, said the area was in need of an "uplift".
"Cank Street needs to bring people over that way," he said.
"It's mostly a cut-through to the market - there are no real shops there to talk about.
"It really needs a revamp, it needs people to come over there. It would be cool if they did."
City mayor Sir Peter Soulsby said the project would enhance a "vibrant independent shopping area".
He said: "We've already done the link through into the town square, which is absolutely brilliant and everybody said after that, well why didn't we do it years ago?"
