An art exhibition showcasing the talents of three local autistic artists has been extended.

Through My Eyes, at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery was created to challenge the stigma surrounding people with additional needs and to showcase their artistic skills and abilities.

The exhibition includes work from three artists, all of whom are autistic and one who also has a learning disability.

It was due to run until January 2024, but will now continue to 3 March.

The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Leicester City Council and Soft Touch Arts, a city charity that works with young people with additional support needs.

It includes work by photographer David Brown, musician Thomas Corden and artist Clare Pipes, whose glasswork sculpture Theatre of Birds is due to be donated to the city's museums.

Sarah Russell, Leicester's deputy city mayor for social care, health and community safety, said: "It's inspirational to see the artwork, glasswork and photography on show.

"This exhibition has proved to be popular with visitors, and shows what local neurodiverse artists have achieved."
