The closure has led to lengthy delays

A section of the M1 has reopened in Leicestershire after being closed due to a van fire.

Both sides of the motorway were shut between junctions 21A and 22 following the incident at about 12:40 GMT on Friday, with diversions put in place.

National Highways says both carriageways have since reopened.

Motorists have been warned there are about five miles of congestion on the northbound side, with delays of up to 45 minutes.
