Police say officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with the woman's death

A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in a Leicestershire village.

Leicestershire Police said officers were called by paramedics at 11:20 GMT on Sunday to a property in The Coppice, Burbage.

The force said a woman in her 50s was pronounced dead a short time later, despite efforts to save her.

Detectives said Gregor Bauld, 22, had been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

Mr Bauld, of The Coppice, Burbage, is due to appear before Leicester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The area was still cordoned off on Monday as forensic experts examined the scene.

Officers said the woman had not yet been formally identified and that a post-mortem examination would take place in due course.
