Leicestershire: Woman in her 60s dies in two-car crash in village

A woman in her 60s has died after two vehicles crashed in a small village in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Police was called to Welby Road in Asfordby Hill, near Melton Mowbray, shortly before 11:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The woman, who was in a red Ford Fiesta that collided with a red Hyundai Kona, died at the scene.

A man in his 60s, who was also in the Fiesta, and an 18-year-old, who was in the Kona, were taken to hospital.

Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

An investigation has been launched and officers are asking for witnesses and anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage to come forward.
