Hinckley: Developer earmarks 900-home housing estate for town
- Published
A developer has earmarked almost 900 homes for a Leicestershire town after it submitted fresh proposals following a successful planning appeal earlier this year.
Richborough Estates had plans for 475 properties in Hinckley approved by the planning inspector in January.
Now, next to the site on land north of the A47 Normandy Way, proposals for 415 more have been revealed.
The developer said the two developments would be separated by a large park.
Planning permission for the original 475 homes was initially refused by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council last year, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), external.
The project was turned down following advice from Leicestershire County Council's highways team, which said its work to assess road safety had not yet been completed.
The planning inspector later overturned the refusal after the county council said it had completed its assessment and found there would be no "unacceptable impacts" on nearby roads.
The smaller development, if approved, would be accessed from a new roundabout on Normandy Way, the LDRS said.
The space between the developments, which would be known as Valley Park, would also feature play areas, allotments, cycleways and footpaths.
Under the plans that have already been approved, land has been reserved for space to potentially build a primary school.
