Leicester: Dog walker injured with baseball bat and blade

A dog walker in his 70s was the victim of an attempted robbery in a country park, police have said.

The man was in Castle Hill Country Park, Leicester, at about 09:30 BST on Friday with four dogs, when approached by a couple.

The man tried to grab the lead of a dog before attacking him.

Appealing for witnesses, police said the victim was hit on the head and suffered slash injuries to his face and arm, which needed hospital treatment.

Tattoo clue

Officers said three of the victim's dogs were off lead, but none were taken in the attack.

The suspect is described as about 30 years old, white, 5ft 6in (1.68m) tall, of stocky build, and with short black hair.

He had a tattoo sleeve on his left arm, was wearing a blue coat, and it is not believed he spoke English as his first language, police said.

Officers had previously said both the man and woman had participated in the attack, which they initially said took place in Astill Lodge Road.
