Driver, 96, dies after two-car crash on A52 in Bottesford

A 96-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash on a major road in Leicestershire.

The crash, involving a white Mercedes SLK and a white Honda Jazz, happened on the A52 Grantham Road, at the junction with Belvoir Road, Bottesford, at about 10:20 BST on 1 April.

The driver of the Honda Jazz was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Leicestershire Police said on Tuesday that the man had since died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes suffered minor injuries while a passenger in the same car was uninjured in the crash.

The A52 was closed from the A46 at Saxondale to the A1 in Grantham - roughly 13 miles - for several hours after the crash.
