Leicester: Murder charge after woman found dead at house

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a house in Leicester.

Police were called to an address in Tarbat Road shortly before 13:30 BST on Monday.

Raj Sidpara, 50, of Tarbat Road, Leicester, was charged over the death of 44-year-old Tarnjeet Riaz, also known by her maiden name Chagger.

Mr Sidpara has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Det Insp Emma Matts said: "A team of detectives are continuing to work to understand what has occurred and a cordon will remain in place while we thoroughly examine the scene."

Ms Riaz's family are being supported by specialist officers, the force added.
