New talks over Nocton super dairy farm

Original plans had provoked some opposition

The company behind plans to build a so-called super dairy in Lincolnshire has discussed a new application with local residents.

In April, Nocton Dairies Ltd withdrew a scheme for an 8,000 cow facility at Nocton Heath near Lincoln, saying they wanted to address concerns raised.

Now it has arranged meetings with people in Nocton and Dunston ahead of resubmitting plans in the near future.

Issues over traffic and animal welfare were a priority, the firm said.

Nocton said it was also working very closely with relevant agencies including the Environment Agency.

But campaigner Andrew David said there should be wider consultation: "It has been put up on a couple of village noticeboards, in only two of the possibly affected villages.

"The model they are using is an American model which could affect an area of six miles around, so there could be plenty of other villages which could be involved, which have not been invited."

Revised plans are likely to be re-submitted to North Kesteven District Council over the coming months.

A separate plan by Velmur for a 3,000 cow dairy at South Witham near Grantham was withdrawn in June after opposition from residents.
