Councils in Lincolnshire to work on 20-year plan

Three Lincolnshire councils have joined forces with a 20-year plan to help bring major developments to the county.

The City of Lincoln Council, North Kesteven District Council and West Lindsey District Council said they were facing harsh financial times.

The councils hope that by working together, they can strengthen their case for projects such as the Eastern Bypass and the East-West link road.

Following the Spending Review, funding for many projects has been cut.

Councillor Darren Grice, leader of the City of Lincoln Council, said: "Money is tight and we need new ways of bringing forward development.

"The Eastern Bypass is absolutely essential for Lincoln, West Lindsey and North Kesteven. If we can deliver development that helps bring on the Eastern Bypass, that would be a huge bonus.

"These major pieces of infrastructure, in reality, if it was just down to us relying on the county to fund, would never happen."
