Lincolnshire hospital aims to speed recovery times

A Lincolnshire hospital is providing more detailed information to patients in a move to reduce recovery times.

Patients in a ward at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston who have had a hip or knee replacement are provided with daily information cards.

Staff said the new approach meant patients were encouraged to reach their rehabilitation targets more quickly.

The information cards have details about what activities and treatment they can expect.

Staff said patients will know when they will be expected to try to walk and when they should expect to be able to go home.

Health managers said the pilot, which began in November, could be rolled out to other wards in the hospital.
