North Kesteven council approves Sleaford Tesco store

Plans for a new Tesco store in a Lincolnshire town have been approved by councillors.

The Tesco Extra with petrol station will be built on the former Advanta Seeds site off Southgate in Sleaford.

Related plans for a new link road past the site and a footbridge over the railway line will be discussed by North Kesteven District Council next month.

Tesco's existing store in Northgate, Sleaford, is expected to be converted into smaller retail units.

The new store, with a 600-space car park, forms part of the district council's regeneration scheme for Southgate.

As part of the plans the council is working in partnership with the Gladedale Group, the Prince's Regeneration Trust and English Heritage to redevelop the nearby Bass Maltings to include housing, commercial space, parking and visitor attractions.

Tesco was unavailable for comment.
