Pilgrim Hospital abuse claim prompts police inquiry

Claims of mistreatment of patients at a Lincolnshire hospital are being investigated by police.
Officers went to Boston's Pilgrim Hospital after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) passed on a tip-off.
A member of staff has been suspended and police are now interviewing staff, previous patients and their families about the allegations, police said.
The full results of a CQC inspection will not be published until any criminal inquiry is completed.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, which runs the hospital, said: "Police are investigating allegations made about an individual member of staff. This member of staff has been suspended from duty while the investigation is ongoing."
In February the CQC revealed inspectors had been highly critical of Pilgrim Hospital's patient care and gave the trust until Tuesday of this week to make improvements, which managers said they had done.
