Police said the site would allow people to give information about the case

A website dedicated to a murder investigation has been set up by Lincolnshire police.

Alan Wood, 50, was bound and tortured in his home in Lound near Bourne in October 2009.

Detectives have said, aside from the theft of a few hundred pounds, the motive for the killing remained a mystery.

They said the site, which they believed was the first of its kind in the UK, would show the inquiry was active.

Lincolnshire Police has looked at more than 16,000 possible suspects in the UK and abroad as part of the investigation - which is one of its largest ever.

Case overview

Despite having a full DNA profile of an attacker and CCTV of a suspect using Mr Wood's stolen bank cards, no one has been charged.

The case has twice been featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

The website gives details of the crime, the investigation and the £60,000 reward.

It also gives the public a number of ways to give information.

Det Supt Stuart Morrison said: "The aim of this website is to keep the appeal for information on Alan's killers in the public domain and to provide people with an easy and accessible way of reporting things to us.

"It is designed to give visitors an overview of the whole case and a chance to review the main evidence and appeal points."
