The top job in Lincolnshire Police, which had been the focus of controversy, has been advertised.

The post of chief constable is currently held by Neil Rhodes in a temporary arrangement.

He was suspended from the role in February by police and crime commissioner Alan Hardwick but was reinstated after a judicial review.

Mr Rhodes has previously said he intends to apply for the £131,000 role.

In a video attached to the advert, Mr Hardwick said he wanted someone who would "inspire me and inspire the force".

Mr Rhodes was suspended over his involvement in an employment dispute.

He was reinstated by a judicial review in March and a report by Sir Peter Fahy, chief constable at Greater Manchester Police, cleared him of any wrong-doing.

Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee Keith Vaz described the saga as a "soap opera".
