Road through Lincoln's Newport Arch shuts during repairs

A road through a Roman landmark in Lincoln is to close for five weeks.
Traffic will be unable to drive through the Newport Arch from this week as restoration work continues.
Work started in October to repair the arch which has become damaged by wind and frost.
Earlier this year City of Lincoln Council said it had to pay out an extra £80,000 for the project after contractors found other issues with the arch once work had begun.
John Latham, from the council, added: "This is a really important monument part of Lincoln's history.
"It is the only arch in this country that you can still drive through, so it is really important we do this work, and absolutely essential that we found the extra resources to do the work."
It is one of the largest restoration project at the arch since May 1964 when a lorry crash caused extensive damage to it.
